Clinical Supervision

“How do I know if clinical supervision is right for me?”

You spent A LOT of time in school, probably a lot of money, too. Now you’re contemplating the next step in your professional pursuits.

Getting licensed isn’t for everyone because not everyone uses their degree the same way. But you know that to be an effective therapist, you need to broaden your experience and training to provide your clients with the best service possible.

When you finish schooling and consider the next step, think about where you see yourself down the line – or what the possibilities might be.

Ask yourself this question – would being licensed with your degree be helpful?

Choosing a Supervisor

Remember that clinical supervision is a long-term relationship, unique to any other.

When choosing a supervisor, you want someone you can get along with and who will challenge you.

You want a supervisor who has experience in your field and can help you hone your skills.

A good supervisor will help you grow as a clinician.

Here are some reasons why I might be the right supervisor.

Completing the thousands of hours necessary for qualifying for a license is challenging. I know because I have been where you are now and have been through the process. But the process is essential for professional development.

During this process, you will find times that make you question your ability to be a licensed therapist. During these times, a good supervisor can help overcome your fears and doubts, and at the same time, help you identify your strengths.

We will cover a lot of ground during this time together while learning, developing, and applying skills required for diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of different clients and institutional situations.

Self-care is an important area that I will emphasize during our time together and when you receive your license. Therapy is a challenging profession and requires a balance between professional and personal life. Maintaining that balance is something that I will emphasize throughout the process.

Let me partner with you in this process.
